So you wanna see my....

Cucumbers?? Well if you don't, too damn bad. And if you do, here ya go!

They are so weird because it's like they grow from the stem out.. Like those balloons that they make animals out of. When they blow them up and they fill with air from the bottom to the top. As shown better in the 2nd picture. But I have a bunch of them and I'm excited.
This weekend was really, REALLY nice. The weather was what I would call "quit your job and stay home" nice. It was sunny with a cool breeze.. We had a party for my Mom because it's her birthday TODAY! Happy Birthday Mom!!! Well I guess that's all I have for today. Have a great one!

Huh?

Well, I'm not sure when I blogged last but I remember it being about how being a kid is way better... And today, once again.. It's completely obvious to me that it's true. I've had a very tiring 2 weeks.. working weird shifts, 1/2 shifts and off shifts. But I survived and the second week was much better than the first.. But I thought (for some reason) that this week would be all back to normal and just regular and boring.. Silly me! I should know better than that..
Well, I started this post on Monday.. today is Friday... figure that one out. But I have some pics.

This is my new water bottle. And I love it. The top one is of this thing called a "splash guard" basically it's so that you don't spill it on yourself.. Which I have done- and somehow I spilled on myself yesterday even with it. But that's ok. It's just water. I'm happy to let you all know that I will be having some cucumbers! I've been trying hard to pollinate them so that I can for sure have some. I would have been very bummed if none would have grown. I'll have to take some pictures of them.. I guess I haven't posted since my birthday- which seems like 10 years ago.. but it was really only 3 weeks ago.. The sad part is that I can't really even think of anything to post about.. because the past weeks have just been sort of blurry, blending together. But this week was pretty OK, B/F brought me some flowers that he picked from in the woods. This is sort of a long story but there is some land (between his house and mine) and they recently cleared out all the trees and then a few months ago they burned a bunch of it (why we don't know) but then about a month ago these huge purple patches appeared.. just out in the middle of this land.. and I've been wanting to wander out there and see what they were.. well we never really got around to it (mainly bc it's been HOT) but he went and got them for me. I thought it was so sweet.. And then yesterday he bought me a new hockey shirt.. I'm so glad it's Friday. And it looks like the weather is going to be nice.. 80's and sunny. Yippee.
I've also been watching the Olympics.. I'm not sure why, maybe I'm sports deprived.
Yesterday I had an eye exam.. nothing new there. The Dr. that did was young.. he looked younger than me! I thought it was funny though because the assistant chick wanted me to take off my glasses and asked me if I could read the giant letter on the wall.. and I was like umm.. NO.. I can't freaking see with out them...I mean do they need to ask that? If I could read it with out my glasses, would I be there? No! Wow- it's almost 11am! that means I only have like 4 hours of work left.. Whoo hoo! I guess there isn't really anything else to talk about.. Been pretty boring lately.. Just work and sleep and being tired....

More pictures.. yippee

Well. I hope that everyone had a great holiday weekend.. I was lucky and I had Thurs and Friday off work. But like usual I got screwed out of one day because we had 2 off here but the temp company only pays for 1! Thursday Owen came over and hung out with Mom and I- that was fun. Then on Friday the 4th we had a family get-together and had food and hung out. Then Saturday and Sunday were HOT here so I tried to stay cool. But on Saturday I was leaving with the B/F and I couldn't find my keys.. anywhere.. So when I got home I thought I'd check in the car.. and there they were- in the ignition with them in the ON position. SO I had a dead car! So B/F came over and jumped my car and I was good to go- I just felt like a tool! I have never even had to open the hood on my car.. I couldn't find the latch and B/F had to do that too! That's what happens when you buy a new car that has all the services covered for 3 years! Oh well.
And for now my gas experiment is ruined because I can't remember exactly how many miles were on this tank when I killed my car. But I didn't drive for 3 days, which is why I had no clue where my keys were..

These are some clouds that were swirling over my house the other evening before it rained, which we cool because it hasn't rained in a really, really long time..

And here are some of my garden pic, the ones in the bucket are cucumbers and the other is a pea plant that is huge but I couldn't get a good picture of it.

I guess that's all I really have.. Nothing to exciting going on.. Sad part is that this post took me 2 days! Ha! make that 3 days because I must not have published it yesterday...

Results...

So in case anyone really cares, I got over 30 mpg last week in my experiment to see if driving 60 really helps with gas mileage. I'm sure that my test was flawed, because I sometimes drove faster or was on side roads and such- it was still better than what I was used to. So it's not perfect but I'm happy.
In other news (which isn't very exciting), the past month and 1/2 or so I've really been hooked on reading. I used to read a lot when I was younger.. I think I have/had every babysitter club book. But i get in this mood every few years where I just can't get enough.. So for Christmas 2 years ago I wanted the Chronicles of Narnia, and I got it from my sister, one giant book with all 6 in it. I had started it then but then just didn't get into it until a while ago and I read all that in just a few weeks, but after I was done with that it was like "ahhh what else can I read" and so I picked up another book that I got for X- Mas from my Mom. I read 1/2 of it the first night and finished it the next day. Then I started looking on the internet to see what the best selling books were and there is a series by Stephanie Meyer and I bought the first one Twilight on Friday night and I finished that on Sunday. So I bought the second one Sunday night and I'm very close to being done with that one so I've decided to slow down.... Until I can find the third one in the series in paperback. I'm hoping that I'll be able to find it because I'll have to find something else to read. And I feel kind of dumb because this series is Young Adult (I guess I'm a youngish adult) but it's not like a kid book, but they are well written and the language is not kid-ish but it's not overly adult either just normal everyday language.. They are about a girl and vampires and werewolves, I like that kind of crap. I guess it's so much more than that but I don't really feel like getting into all of it.
Well, I'm planning on taking some garden pictures because everything is growing, the weather has been so nice and sunny here and barely and rain that stuff has been really growing (not the grass though)..
And I got an e-mail from the MN Wild asking me if I wanted to partner with someone who has season tickets. I'm really torn about it because it would be so awesome and since it goes through the team I might get some freebies or benefits or something. I'd be happy with just a parking pass.. I'm just worried that it will cost a ton but I don't think it would cost anymore than if I bought the tickets and since they sell out SO fast I might not ever get to go again.. I mean they want to know what price range you'd like and how many tickets /games you want.. I'd rather get in with someone's tickets because then it will be the same seats every time (and the same people around you) which I've learned by getting in on season tickets for the Twins, how nice that is.. So I'm going to think about it a bit and we'll see what happens..
Thanks for stopping and reading my stuff!

At least it's Thursday..right?

Ohh, I'm excited because I got my car back this morning.. It looks so great, like nothing ever happened to it. What I did was just get what I could fixed for the amount I got from the insurance co. So it's still got 4-5 dents but all the majors are fixed and pretty!! I'm really lucky that the B/F is just down the street and willing to let me borrow his truck but I'm glad to have my car back, but I was used to where the turn signal thing was in his truck. So, I'm glad that its all done and over with.
Let's see, I haven't had a garden update in a really long time.. After the hail I was pretty sure that my bean plants were goners but they weren't they recovered and produced many a yummy bean. On Tuesday I went out and picked 91 beans, that is the most this year.. I took a pic of them all but forgot my camera so I'll have to post it tomorrow. In addition to the 91 I picked there were 3 bags, plus I have given 2 bags to B/F's mom, she loves them. And I gave a bag to his sister. So we have plenty of beans for a while. My pumpkin survived the hail but I think that I planted it way to late, it got more babies on it and I was excited because I thought that they would turn into pumpkins, but they was just get yellow and die.. But its still growing out there. The peas were basically destroyed but it was kind of cool because some of the plant had pea pods on them and when the pod dried up the little peas inside there sprouted new plants.. I was really surprised. So, 1 out of 3 of the things I planted made it. SO next year I am not waiting until June to plant stuff...
On to sports junk, my hockey team the MN Wild won again last night, they are 3-0! So ya'll have a good day!

* *Lucky number 51* *

Wow, I've posted 51 times already. Why, not write this yesterday on #50 you ask? Well, because I wasn't paying attention yesterday, that's why. What I have for you today is an experience in photo wonder. I hoped over to the Photo Challenge, since I'm a few weeks behind, this week was about some technique called Miksang, and I thought that I would try it out last night but I didn't know what the hell to do, so I heard some cops coming and they were down the street from my house, and I sat on the curb, and was just watching the cops and thinking about what I could take pictures of..Then I thought oh, I could take pictures of the cap lights, that might be cool, but by the time I was done dinking around with the camera settings, they had turned off their lights.. So then I thought I would try taking pictures of cars with a low speed on the camera..Here's what I got.

The one in the middle is an ambulance that went past, I got excited because I'd be able to take a picture of it. The other two are just cars that were going past. For some reason I just thought that it was kind of neat. This picture is of Dag, he was out by the street with me, he likes to help with all the various yard tasks (including taking pictures of cars..) so he followed me out there, and we were kind of jogging through the yard and so I took a picture of him, I think it looks weird, because he is sort of focused, but the ground is not, and just a side note, all that brown is the grass in my yard..Because its been so dry and my Mom could care less if the grass grows, then she doesn't have to mow, even though she has recently employed my B/F to do it.

So, I'm sad to say that I've got only male flowers on my pumpkins. They bloom and then they die right away, those pics that I posted yesterday I took at about 8:30am and by the time I got home from work at 4pm, they were all wilted and deady looking. I had two more this morning, and if they are dead when I get home, I'll know they are male. But I guess this is normal.. I'm just wanting there to be a pumpkin SO bad. In other veggie news, I have some peas..I think there are about 4 or 5, so thats cool. Mom cut some of her lettuce last weekend, but we haven't tried it yet. I don't have any beans yet but I'm hoping they aren't far behind. I waited a little long to start planting so they are all a little behind.
But I'm still hoping to have SO much stuff that I have to sell it on the street. Well, I should get to work since its almost lunch time and I like to have completed something before I go to lunch. I mean I DO have goals for myself, they aren't high, because then I always feel good because I've completed my work goals for the day, then I'm happy :P Have fun ya'll and wish my Twins luck because they've been losing, but I'm going to listen to them anyways. I am a true fan!

Wowwy Wednesday!

Howdy, well its weds and I'm just tired today, didn't get enough sleep last night. SO that means that I have even less desire to be here- and on a normal day its pretty low. On the upside we had free pizza from the warehouse we use to store stuff. I think it just made me more tired. Oh, well. Let's see- nothing new really, I don't have any pictures to post or anything but maybe I will take some tonight so you can all see how huge my pumpkins are getting, they have two sets of leaves now and they are probably 3-4 inches high. I find it really interesting to watch them grow, but I have to get the area weeded so that they can spread out, and they might spread A LOT! And its pretty much all weeds back there, so that stinks- but it will be worth it if I get two pumpkins, so I can have one and Owen can have one. If I get more than that I am going to try and sell them, I mean what's better than a locally grown and chemical free pumpkin? Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd rather be home in the sunshine watching my pumpkins grow. At least I would be getting some enjoyment out of that. I mean I'm sure I could take a nap and then get most of the back area weeded. But I'm getting paid to be here and look like I'm working hard on something, which I am, my blog! Plus, lunch was so damn early that now my schedule is all messed up!!! I have this hour to kill between my lunch and going in the lab to cover LB's lunch! And I've decided that I'm going to have to re-plant some of my stuff because not all of them have grown- So, thinking of all this stuff is making me want to go home..blah! Well, I've been working on this game "Polish Horseshoes" its a washer game and you toss the washers into holes on a board and you get points.. Its fun, maybe I will take some pics of that too. That's all I have for now, I'm going to play with glue, yippee! Something totally unrealated to anything, I only had ONE misspelled word, go me!

How does your garden grow?

Mine grows FAST! The first pic is of my pumpkins. Aren't they cute! I took that pic on Saturday, about a week after I started them, one of the seeds I soaked for most of the day and the other one I didn't because it was an after thought, I didn't think that they would grow. Let me tell you the story. Two years ago, the B/F and I went and bought a pumpkin. And I saved the seeds from it and I sort of followed some instructions on how to save the seeds, I washed them and then put them on some newspaper to dry (FOR TWO YEARS) then I pretty much forgot about them. And this year I was all "hey, I'm going to see if they will grow" and they did. So now back to the original story. They just popped out of the dirt, its been so hot and dry here and now they are working on the second set of leaves, I took pictures of them but they didn't look as good as I thought they did. So just picture them in the ground and bigger :)

This pretty little flower is a gazania (might be spelled wrong), my Mom really likes these little flowers, and we have never had a pink one, only orange and yellow, both of which are pretty. But I liked this on and thought that I would share it.
The cat, is not mine, its the neighbor's brother's cat, his name it Dagwood, I call him Dag. He only has a nub of a tail, and he meows a lot. But now his owner is gone, because they got into a fight about something, who knows. But the neighbor made him leave and he left the cats, one of which lived in our garage for like 3 days. I don't know where that one is, I think in the other garage. Dag is a helper, likes to follow you around the yard and talk to you. I was pretty sure he was going to jump in the car with me this morning. I feel bad for him though, because he's all alone and he's a good cat. So we feed him and leave water for him, and pet him till we figure out if his owner is coming back for them. I didn't really do very much this weekend, because it was like 90+ degrees and humid and just plain gross outside. Hung out, did laundry, and tried to stay inside until like 8pm when it started to cool off (barely) and I did go for a few short bike rides. Hopefully, my pumpkins will grow like crazy and then I can sell them along with my veggies. I know nothing about pumpkins and since these were farm pumpkins and I have no idea how big the get or how anything. I know that they are a vine, along the ground. That's all I know. So maybe I'll have to do a little searching so that I know what I'm getting myself into. Of course, I will keep you all updated on that. Well, I think that's all I have for today..

Anyone?

Else happy that it's Monday? For some reason, I am? Fever you ask?? Nope, no fever! Just in a good mood today, and hey I'll take it. So let's see..Well, my garden is growing (yippee). I measured the few beans that are coming up and they were both about 2 3/4 inches tall, they looked taller today. And, I bought a new bike this weekend. And here it is!

Its a green Diamondback. I haven't really had a ton of time (or energy) to really get out and ride it, I"m still getting it adjusted to where I like it. But it is nice to have a bike that isn't WAY to small for me.

This is one of my beans. It wasn't all folded up like this when I peeked at them before I left for work. If you've never grown beans, the pole kind, it is so much fun. And the beans are pretty good, better than frozen. I'm hoping the peas do well, I"m most excited about those. And I've started a couple of pumpkin seeds in a dish, just to see if something happens with them.
I did a lot this weekend. I went to a concert on Friday night, then on Saturday we went bike shopping. Then B/F helped me put together the frame for this yard game I'm building. Its called Polish Horseshoes. And then my sister, BIL,and Owen came over and we had steaks and played some ladder ball. I'm sure that Heather will post pics of all the excitement on her blog. Then we went to Home Depot to get some plywood, for the horseshoes. But I'm a tool and got washers that are bigger than what I supposed to get, I need 2.5 inch but I thought I needed 3 in- so maybe I'll take them back- plus the spray paint I bought is crap its really powdery and even comes off of paper- which it should stick to! Then I tried to just relax a bit on Sunday, just did laundry, watched my Twins win and dinked around with my bike and rode it around in the driveway and the yard and stuff. Plus, it was HOT yesterday and I was tired from the other days so my energy was low... Well, I think that's all I have for today, the Photo challenge for this week is close ups, so I have to think of something to take pics of.. So, I hope that everyone has a great day and is in a good mood!

Thursday, June 7, 2007

Well..

I can't think of a snappy Thursday title so I guess that'll do. So anyone ever play "Ladderball"? Its pretty fun, my Mom bought it and we finally put it together and played it a couple of times, more just practice then really playing against each other. Now, when we play it at a get together or something we'll be really good and win a lot! So, I had a crazy hoard of rabbits experience last night.. We built our veggie garden in the back, where it is all fenced in from when we used to have dogs, I thought that this would be a sure way to keep the rabbits from eating everything.. Well, I was wrong, they are so sneaky and they went under then fence in a spot where the fence doesn't touch the ground all the way. I figured this out because I went around the side of the garage to stare my garden into growing (even though it's been less than a week since I planted it, and its been crappy out) and what do I see??? A huge crow and little bunny foo foo! I made some noise and scared it but it just went into some tall grass behind the lillies..SO I went around, I was mad! Then it was on the outside of the fence.. so I went back around and it went in through the gap, then I went back around and it was like I was seeing things, because there were rabbits ALL over, like they have ninja powers or something! So I chased them all into the corner of the fence, sort of, they could have easily gotten past me! So one squeeeezed and shook and wiggled its way through the holes in the fence which are a rectangle maybe 3x4 inches. I thought it was going to get stuck (and I was glad, hahah) but then the other ones followed suit and then they were all out and running in different directions and I tried telling them to go into the road- but they didn't listen. Now, don't go thinking I'm a rabbit hater, I have love for the bunnies, but not if they are going to eat my garden... One was waiting for me today when I went to leave for work, as if to say "I WILL eat your garden, I can dig you know. Stupid human!" I chased it away... I secretly wanted them to all die, but then I would feel horrible, because I really do like them. We fixed the gap in the fence and then Mom sprayed some stuff that stinks around to keep them away (hopefully). Well, that's all I have for today, tomorrow is friday and I don't have to work this weekend and I'm cashing in some of my change and putting it towards a new bike, so maybe I'll find one this weekend, but I'm a picky shopper so it might take a while. I'll try and think of something snappy to say tomorrow!
